Frequently Asked Questions
To help you understand this program benefit, we have included some frequently asked questions as it applies to the program offering and the benefit available.
Q: Who is eligible for coverage?
A: Eligible executives are defined by Expand Energy. Inquiries as to who the benefit applies to should be directed to your Expand Energy Human Resources and Benefits associate.
Q: When does coverage begin?
A: Coverage for eligible executives commences on January 1st and expires on 12/31 of each calendar year of which the program is issued. Eligible executives employed by Expand Energy at the time of program commencement are automatically enrolled in the program. Once an eligible executive is enrolled, their coverage remains in force through the duration of the policy term - even if they retire, resign or are terminated. Once they are no longer an eligible executive, they will not be re-enrolled in the following policy term and will need to replace this coverage through their Personal Insurance provider. If eligible executives are hired during the program term, coverage will be added at the beginning of the following calendar year.
Q: Are recreational vehicles covered?
A: Yes. However, to ensure you have no gaps in coverage, it is imperative that you carry the minimum underlying limits on your Homeowner, Renter, Automobile and other policies as required by the minimum required underlying limits. If you do not currently have the minimum underlying limits, you should contact your Personal Insurance provider to amend your coverage as needed.
Q: Are business pursuits covered?
A: The purpose of this program is to protect you against "personal" exposures for which you may be personally liable. The intent of this program is not to protect against business or commercial exposures. However, certain incidental business exposures are covered including some rental properties, farming activities and others - but only on a limited basis. Please review the policy exclusions in the specimen policy to determine how coverage will apply in your specific situation.
Q: Are other family members and/or children away at college covered?
A: To ensure dependents and other family members are covered under this policy, you must first ensure they are listed as drivers on your automobile policy - and members of your household. You must also ensure that your child's apartment and residence away at school is covered under your primary personal insurance policy. If you are unsure, you should discuss applicable underlying coverages with your existing Personal Insurance provider.
Q: I already have a Personal Umbrella Policy. How will this apply?
A: If you already have a Personal Umbrella Policy, you should discuss how this policy will apply with your current Personal Insurance Provider - as you might not be allowed to carry two policies at the same time. However, some insurance providers will allow you layer multiple Personal Umbrella policies - or not apply at all.
Q: How do I report a claim?
A: To report a claim, you must first notify your primary insurance provider. This is the provider who provides the first layer of liability coverage for either your Homeowner or Automobile Policy. Once the underlying policy limits are exhausted, you should contact your program administrator at (972) 378-5151.
